7 ways to help the Wild Carp Trust

13 January 2024

There are seven ways you can help the Wild Carp Trust in 2024, ranging from fundraising and donations to joining us or volunteering your time.

We’ve set them out below for your consideration. Above all, please help us to promote our charity by spreading the word of our good work to encourage others to help as well.

Contact us if you can help us to raise funds, generate publicity, expand our network, or run the charity.

1. Nominate the Wild Carp Trust as the charity of the year of your angling club, social club, syndicate or even local tackle shop

This could take the form of some small social fundraising events throughout the year, collection tins on bars, raffles, sweepstakes, even charity fishing matches. One of our small voluntary team would be on hand all year to support your club with materials, information, etc. If you’re a member or on the committee of a club, please do consider suggesting supporting our work through 2024.

2. Donate a prize for our annual auction

After the success of last year’s Wild Carp Trust fundraising auction, the generosity shown by all those who donated items, and those who placed bids, we are looking forward to holding our second annual online auction in the spring.

2023’s auction raised an amazing £1200 which helped our charity to deliver incredible conservation throughout the year, and this year we would love to raise even more, but to do so we will once again be calling on the kindness of supporters, anglers, and those in the angling industry to donate prizes lots.

If you would be willing to donate something toward our raffle, please contact us – it could be anything; something from your angling library, an experience day, some guided fishing, or perhaps some angling memorabilia. Anything you might be able to give would hugely help us in equalling or even surpassing 2023’s total.

3. Corporate sponsorship

Could your business or employer support our work this year via a corporate partnership? Relationships such as these would support us with vital publicity, and could involve fundraising and/or cash donations, but also gifts in kind.

If you work for or with an angling company, could they support us by sponsoring materials used in fish moving, handling or feeding? We would love to have a conversation about conservation with you!

4. Volunteer your time

Could you donate your time to fill a vacant position on the committee? The charity is run exclusively by volunteers, each giving their time and expertise for free. You could help.

Open committee positions can be found here.

5. Donate

You can make a personal or corporate donation, or nominate the Wild Carp Trust for legacy donations in memory of a loved one.

6. Fundraise

Could you do something special to help raise funds for the Wild Carp Trust? Maybe a sponsored walk, bike ride, or swim? We have a Justgiving page for you to raise funds.

7. Join

Become a member of the Trust, by donating £30 a year. Members receive a pin badge and car sticker upon joining, followed by an annual journal in December, quarterly email newsletters, and invitations to member-only events such as fishing weekends, socials and our annual conference (from 2024).

For only 8 pence per day, you will help to fund the Wild Carp Trust’s conservation work such as protecting and rescuing carp, raising young fish, maintaining our conservation pools, and increasing awareness of the value of these heritage strains.
