Wild weather for collecting wild carp

3 August 2022

WCT trustees Fennel Hudson and Peter Whipp are experiencing extreme conditions while up at Pant y Llyn seeking to catch carp fry for the Wild Carp Trust’s breeding programme.

The rest of the UK is basking in glorious sunshine, but the mountain weather in Wales has a climate of its own. Here’s Fennel doing his best to stay warm and dry beneath his unhooking mat…in August!

“We’ve had gale force winds, horizontal rain, lightning and thunder,” said Fennel, “but not a single carp fry has appeared in the nets.”

Keep trying, guys, this is important work.
