Wild Carp Trust meets at Cowslip Pool

2 October 2020

Trustees of the Wild Carp Trust met this weekend to investigate the potential of Cowslip Pool as our first conservation water. There was even some fishing for the pool’s legacy brown trout.

Scott Winstanley was the successful angler, catching a 5lb brown trout – one of a handful of fish that remain from when the pool was a trout pool. Removing these fish is important to ensure they don’t eat our little wild carp once stocked.

And, of course, in true Wild Carp Trust fashion, the event was a social as well. Fennel’s tipi served as the focal point for our cooking, eating and conversations about our vision for the Wild Carp Trust.

Steven Murgatroyd successfully lands Scott’s fish. Scott’s expression says it all. It was a big trout!

Cowslip Pool is a spectacular water and will become even more so once it is stocked with a heritage strain of carp.
